As a psychotherapist, I am continually amazed at the variety and intensity of challenges faced by many of my clients. I’m also frankly humbled by the strategies that clients demonstrate, often while believing they have little to offer.
My job is about working with you to discover the strengths and resources you already possess; strengthening them; and applying them in a more consistent and helpful manner. Good therapy moves beyond what’s not working (you probably know this part cold), and explores the space between the problem and where you’d like to be. If this means helping you figure that part out, that’s therapy too.
This means listening carefully and taking the time to get to know who you are, and what motivates you. It also means designing a treatment plan with you, with therapies that have been thoroughly researched and known to be effective. Finally, it means both of us being more than a little curious about where this journey takes us.
